Last updated 3:18 AM on 8 October 2011On Wednesday 21st April Max Potential students from Broken Hill High School, Willyama High School and
Menindee Central School, and their community coaches, met together at the Legion club for three hours of learning and exploration of the program so far. Willyama students involved in this initiative are Heath Caldwell, Luke McDonald, Jacka Hicks, Desley Edwards, Sarah Ray, April Demery of Year 11, and Caitlin Jinks of Year 12.
Most students have now had two coaching sessions with their community coaches, where they have started to learn principals and practices to develop their personal leadership skills and attitudes. The group meeting helped students and coaches alike reflect on what they have already learned, what has been their biggest challenge so far, and what they have already achieved.
Students also started to explore ideas for their community service project, as each student will soon undertake a leadership project in the local community that will directly affect, and seek to improve, the lives of others in the area.
In addition to all of this, a very exciting opportunity for one of the Max Potential students to take part in a Kokoda Trek was announced by the community clubs of Broken Hill.
